Affordable Dentures

Artificial replacements used for your natural teeth and gums are dental dentures. A dentist or prothodontist will recommend dentures to replace the missing teeth if an accident, bad dental health, or illness has caused you to have only a few healthy natural teeth or none at all.I strongly suggest you to visit Ivory Dental Manteca – Manteca Dentures to learn more about this.

If you have significant erosion of the gum and jaw line that makes other dental procedures such as crowns and implants less desirable, dentures are most ideal. They may also be used instead of a single tooth to replace an entire row of teeth.

For dentures, the ideal candidate

Because dentures are relatively non-invasive, they are well suited to individuals who are not willing to undergo a dental procedure that is more extensive, such as that used for dental implants.

Elderly individuals who can not sit still in a dentist’s chair for a long visit are ideal candidates for dentures. Some people have also eroded the line of their teeth and jaw to the point that a crown or dental bridge is hard to do.

If you lack a row of several teeth or your entire top or bottom teeth in a line, dentures may also suit you. In these cases, getting a whole set of false teeth may be easier and less costly than trying to rebuild each lost tooth.

What’s the dentist going to do first?

Your dentist will make mouth impressions and fit you with a false tooth or set of teeth molded according to the shape of your mouth. In order to check for fit, you will be asked to bite down on something. In place, the dentures are attached with an adhesive that you can purchase in most chain grocery or drug stores.

What are the various forms of dentures?

  1. Dentures Complete

All the teeth are replaced by these dentures and are what we often refer to as’ false teeth.’ To duplicate the gum tissue, they are made of colored plastic base, and the artificial teeth are either made of porcelain or plastic. Complete dentures are held in place by suction in the mouth, thus forming a seal on the gums, or they can also be attached by surgery to dental implants that are placed into the jaw bone. The use of dental implants, however, costs more than the conventional way of attaching full dentures.

During the initial placement of complete dentures, most individuals may experience soreness at first and it might take them some time to get used to it. The two types of complete dentures are immediate dentures and conventional dentures.

Immediate dentures are made beforehand and are placed right after the extraction of your teeth. During the first visit, your dentist will first take measurements and models of your jaw and teeth to produce the immediate dentures. One benefit of immediate dentures is that during the healing period, you do not have to go without teeth (which can usually take up to six months). This type of complete dentures also act as tissue protection and can reduce bleeding after teeth are removed. One drawback, however, is that immediate dentures require frequent adjustments during the period of healing when the bones and gums shrink from decreased swelling over time.

After the jaw and gum tissues have healed, conventional dentures are put in position, usually about 8-12 weeks after tooth/teeth extraction, but sometimes longer.

  1. Dentures partial

This kind of dentures are also called “partials” or “removable partial denture prostheses” for people who still have some natural teeth left or when the remaining natural teeth are not strong enough to support a bridge. The gap caused by missing teeth is filled by partial dentures and prevents the other natural teeth from shifting position. Clasps and rests that are carefully fitted around the natural teeth are held in place and can be taken out for cleaning or at night.

To support the artificial teeth needed to replace the lost ones, these dentures are made of either a metal frame or plastic base. More advanced materials have recently been used for partial dentures, such as Valplast, which offers a flexible and durable option and uses internal attachments for a more natural-looking appearance instead of clasps.
