Cybersecurity – Defined

Computer security, or cybersecurity, is the prevention of data theft, destruction or exposure of their electronic information, hardware, applications, or computer programs, and from the interruption or misuse of their services. Cybersecurity is a growing area of concern due to the increasing threat of identity theft and cyber terrorism. A massive amount of financial data is stored on computers around the world and without proper security measures, this data can be extremely damaging to businesses. This can result in loss of employee trust and productivity. It is important to work with an experienced and reputable information security firm that can offer quality services to meet your business needs. The Department of Homeland Security recognizes the growing importance of addressing these issues and has recently created the National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center (NCCIC). This center was created to promote coordination among federal agencies and protect public safety and protect business assets from the growing threats of unauthorized intrusion, sabotage and data theft. The NCCIC will serve as a clearing house for coordinating information sharing across the government and private sector to better detect and stop cyber threats. The Center will enhance partnerships between academia, businesses and federal agencies to enhance our nation’s network security. The NCCIC is part of the broader Department of Homeland Security Information Technology Policy.
